The Fathers Network supports fathers and families raising children with special health care needs and developmental disabilities.

Fragile X Association of Washington State

Fragile X Association of Washington State serves as a resource for families, physicians, educators and therapists.  The association provides information packets, a resource library and regular meetings for newly and previously diagnosed families; educational materials to the community at large (schools, medical community, and social service agencies); and support to further research for a cure for fragile X.

WA State Chapter of Interdys

International Dyslexia Association

Dedicated to helping individuals with dyslexia, their families and the communities that support them.  The Washington State chapter provides parent workshops and teacher training.  They have an excellent referral list of tutors, schools and therapies involved with dyslexia

Washington PAVE

 A parent directed organization that works with families, individuals with disabilities, professionals and community members in all walks of life and with all types of disabilities. PAVE currently has 10 different programs that cover a variety of areas and resources. While most of their programs are centered in Pierce County.  The Parent Training and Information Center provides services to all of Washington State.

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) Parent Connection

Support group for parents of children with SPD.  Meets first Saturday of each month on the Eastside.  Email spdredmond@hotmail.com for meeting time and location.  They also host a yahoo listserv on this topic.

Seattle Children's Play Garden

A welcoming indoor/outdoor center for children of all ages and levels of ability.  Fully accommodates children with special needs.  Provides accessible opportunities for children to interact with natural play spaces.  3710 38th Ave S.  Seattle.  contact liz@childrensplaygarden.org.

Wally's Club

A social skills group for the elementary school child run by Terry Hollingsworth, clinical social worker.  She also runs a group for middle school children. The groups help kids learn to read and express emotions appropriately.  206-281-8403

Friendship Group

SchwabLearning.org

A nonprofit organization, dedicated to providing reliable, parent-friendly information from experts and parents of kids with learning difficulties.  A great place to get on-line advice from other parents who've been through it too.

A Wild Ride

A website dedicated to giving voice and support to mothers raising difficult children.  It provides mom-to-mom stories, parenting ideas, self-care tips and more.  It's a national web-site that is hosted by Bainbridge Island parents.

WrightsLaw
Yellow Pages for Kids

Wrights Law provides Information regarding special education law and advocacy.  They also have an e-mail newsletter.  Yellow Pages for Kids is sponsored by WrightsLaw and is a national listing of special needs resources organized by state.

National Center for Learning Disabilities Incredible resource for parents.  Provides essential information to parents, professionals and individuals with learning disabilities, promotes research and programs to foster effective learning and advocates for policies to protect and strengthen educational rights and opportunities.  Also has a great glossaryhttp://www.ncld.org/content/view/921/456099/
Center for Adoption Medicine Great resource for adoptive parents who have children with delays in development or learning disabilities.  The site is chock full of resources and links.  To use the clinic you schedule an appointment with UW Physicians Pediatric Care Center on Roosevelt.
Special Ed Acronyms A great list of special education related acronyms presented by Bellevue School District.
A4everFamily.org Great resource for children with attachment problems caused by adoption, in-utero stress, foster care, orphanages, moves between families, moves to a new country , unresolved pain, or neglect and abuse.
