Welcome to DevelopmentalWeb – a listing of Seattle and King County area resources for children with learning disabilities or delays in development.

A note to my visitors,

You may not realize when you visit, but this site is a labor of love, not a non-profit organization.  I started it when my children were small and was not able to find the resources I needed in the Crisis Clinic database or at ARC.  Yep, it's just me keeping this thing running.  Doing the updates, adding new resources as parents I know tell me about them.

5 years later, my kids have grown past needing most of the resources listed here, but I keep the site open because I receive hundreds of visitors each week. And every month there are one or two people that spend an hour or more researching dozens of resources listed here.  The desperate parents are the reason I keep the site going.

But I need your help. Website hosting fees aren't covered by the small amount of money the Google ads bring in.  Please consider donating something to help me keep the site going.  I'd also love to hand this off to someone else to maintain.  If you know an organization or person willing to take this on, please drop me a line.

Thank you for helping keep DevelopmentalWeb a resource for King County parents with kids with learning disabilities or delays in development.

How to use the site:

You’re in the right spot if:

  • You are concerned that your baby or toddler isn’t developing at the same pace as other children the same age.  Many resources are only available until your child turns 3.  Don’t wait.
Check out the birth-to-three index for resources.
  • Your pre-school or elementary school-aged child has just been diagnosed with a learning disability or a delay in development.  This is the place to look for resources, especially if you don’t want to be limited to services provided by your school district.
Act now.  Insurance often pays for private services up until your child is 7 years old.
  • Use the navigation categories along the top to review the area's providers by type of service.  Or visit the site map to see a complete listing of resources included.
  • Can't find what you are looking for?  Try searching DevelopmentalWeb using the form below.

This  site lists both traditionally accepted treatment methods as well as more controversial alternative therapies. That said, we expect you'll conduct your own research before proceeding with any provider and monitor your child's experience closely.  Let you own judgment be your guide about whether something is right for your child.
